- Hi y’all!
So let’s talk about citrus for a minute. As a kid, citrus was pretty much our favorite thing about winter. (Besides Christmas and the fact that we got to make s’mores in the fireplace. But then one year, on Christmas the chimney caught on fire while we were roasting marshmallows and then fun was over. So yeah – citrus).
Anywho, when we were growing up there were lemons, oranges, grapefruits, kumquats, and tangerines growing right outside, but it wasn’t until adulthood that we learned about all the other exciting types of fruit the genre has to offer. Blood Oranges and Cara Caras (pink navel oranges to the uninitiated) came around now and again, but Limequats? Sweet limes? Mango oranges, sour oranges (used to make Earl Gray Tea and tastes just like it, but mixed with a sweet, lemony flavor) – the list goes on!
Why, just yesterday we discovered a new citrus friend – Mellow Gold Cocktail Grapefruits from Buck Creek Farm. (Check out the kicky sign!) We’re using them for our off-menu subscriber pie this week, and we’re showing citrus a whole even more love with Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Orange, Toffee Apple with Orange, California Key Lime and Grapefruit Frangipane. So come on down to the LSC and get in on the citrus-y action!
Also, if you like s’mores and have a fireplace, call us. We’ll bring the handmade graham crackers, marshmallows, and organic chocolate. You supply the fire extinguisher. Smooches!
